Daryl has been a user of Canon camera equipment since his early days in photography, and continues to purchase and use Canon cameras and Canon lenses, selected from the Canon professional and advanced amateur range, trusting in their quality, reliability and robustness. After many years, Daryl has purchased an Apple MacBook Pro computer for his photographic use. He uses Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to catalogue and, with plugins such as Nik Software and Photomatix Pro, process his collection of more than 140,000 photos. Daryl is delving into the power or processing selected photos in Adobe Photoshop. Recently, Daryl has become interested in printing his own work and selected an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 to use with a range of art papers.
Since becoming involved with his photography again, Daryl has been a member of the Melbourne Camera Club , and was, for a few years, a Director of the Club. Daryl is still and an active member of MCC. In 2010, after the opening of the Eastlink Tollway made attending meetings viable, Daryl joined the Frankston Photographic Club.
The Melbourne Camera Club has been a source of learning, and challenges for Daryl, particularly with the Portrait Group and AV Group nights. Frankston Photographic Club provided further opportunities to learn, particularly with processing of photos in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Daryl strongly encourages anyone with a passion to learn more about their photography, or needing to be revitalised in their enthusiasm, to join one of the many camera clubs that exist, but he recommends that you consider the many opportunities provided by membership of the Melbourne Camera Club or Frankston Photographic Club.
Melbourne Camera Club runs an excellent Introduction to Photography Course twice each year, in February and August; however, due to overwhelming demand for each course, enrolments must be made within hours of the course being released a few months ahead of its commencement date.
Frankston Photographic Club provides excellent training and examples on the use of photographic software and techniques through its normal program and special courses.
